We are searching for an outstanding Preconstruction Manager to join our team. If you have 5 or more years of experience, a passion for construction, and an insane need and desire to be part of building great projects, then please read on!
What you'll be doing:
- Become an indispensable part of the team tasked with winning new work and managing preconstruction by learning and applying DD’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in Business Development activities to help secure new work.
- Learn clients’ goals and help them achieve them.
- Strategize with the DD team to develop a winning approach for each project.
- Assemble conceptual budgets early in the process based on limited information.
- Manage the preconstruction process from start to finish on multiple concurrent exercises.
- Lead precon meetings with clients and their design teams.
- Lead teams of estimators, PMs, supers, etc. during preconstruction.
- Become an expert on the project, invite the needed trades, identify constructability issues, and find conflicting or missing information that needs to be answered or qualified.
- Collaborate with DD Operations to develop project schedule, staffing, and logistic needs.
- Lead and assist in estimating efforts at the various budgeting milestones.
- Assemble complete and accurate budgets and report on changes in them at each stage.
- Negotiate and award subcontracts after a successful bid process.
- Assemble and turnover project information to operations to run the job and collaborate with the project manager to ensure a successful project.

- Expertise in a wide variety of construction types, methods, equipment, materials, details, and their effect on project value.
- Experience and proven ability to assemble complete and accurate budgets and estimates on a wide variety of commercial, healthcare, and multi-family project types.
- Knowledge of all types of bid processes, contracts, negotiations, and winning strategies for each.
- Ability to perform constructability reviews, identify risk, and know how to mitigate it in alignment with the strategized bid approach.
- Ability to lead and motivate other team members on group exercises.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Box, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, and OST.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
